I will say, having been through several therapists/counselors/psychologists/psychiatrists that your progress can TOTALLY depend on how your professional is, and how well you click with them. It took me about four tries to find a therapist that worked well with me. I dealt with several that were very "Oh I think everyone feels that way at some point" which caused poor results because it made me feel worse about myself for seeking professional help. But I think it's kind of like finding a medication cocktail that works for you, you have to find someone who can understand and see you for who you are. My current therapist is wonderful. She's buddhist and has taught me a lot about mindfulness and meditation, and she's helped me so much. But I went through 3-4 other professionals before being placed with her. All I can say is don't give up. It will help, you just have to find the right match. [Moderator Edit: Moved this post to its own thread so more people would see it and be able to respond. I think it's a really good point and wanted it to have its own thread. ]

I can completely agree with this idea - I also went through several before I found the one I have now and he's fabulous. The idea of trying several therapists is probably pretty daunting, but I believe it can be worth it in the end. And thank you for sharing your success, Ace! Congratulations, and stay strong!
Love, Angel
